The thing with GIMP is that you might have to go the extra mile to get an effect that in photoshop may only take you one step.  The lens flare/glare effect in photoshop can be easily created in GIMP, you might have to do add a few extra layers and such.

Thanks ummm....i messed with the contrast a bit then when i had it were i wanted it i used something called curve it like makes it the colors stick out i think gamma...i dont know.I used motion blur but i used it very little because it just looked sloppy with too much then saturated the color yellow....i think it made it stick out a bit more.
