Strange Disco Problem
« on: April 04, 2009, 06:54:04 PM »
Hey guys, I have the most bizarre disco problem.  When I'm playing, everything will be working perfectly.  I'll be having a conversation on vox while dogfighting and mid sentence the game will disconnect with a "Host Connection Lost" dialog box.  It's so sudden it has actually startled me before, the game literally gives no hint that it is going to do it.  My connection is solid in all other games, could I just need to re-install the game?  Usually I'll get the "Lost UDP switching to TCP" message before a disco, but I don't see any of that with this situation.  Any ideas?

Not unusual.  All Comcast users are going to suffer this from time to time due to a routing problem with Savvis (Comcast's ISP).  Savvis claims they cannot fix it.

We are still working on it, but you need to complain to Comcast as well.  Comcast can force Savvis to fix it, as Comcast is Savvis's customer.  We cannot.

A couple of things.  Need to see a traceroute/Ping Plot and also need a DXDIAG output.

If you are asking about the colo facility we have our servers located in.  Anything is possible.  From time to time they do have to do maintenance, just like any ISP does.

The bulk of the time, there really should not be any local issues here.  The colo we are in houses some very large business customers.  Any unexpected downtime would be a nightmare for AT&T.
