PC Speakers

I personally have Behringer B2030A's connected as my sound source at my kids computer and I can say it's worth the extra money compared to the old logitech boxes.

Now it's pleasant to listen to streaming audio for example, from last.fm or deezer.com. Better speakers increase the quality of any audio even if it's compressed. The studio monitors are optimized for near field listening so they're perfect for a typical computer desktop setup.

For serious listening I use electrostatic panels.

I'm relatively new to this but I'm using a Yamaha ax v-393 system...it's 13 years old with a set of Boston speakers. Just plugged it into the speaker outlet in back of my old computer using aux in.
Also have an old Boston sub woofer there.
You would not believe the engine noise...gun noise...stall vibration etc. etc. etc.
I turned it up one nite and my drink vibrated off my desk during an attack in practice session.
Bottom line...pick up an old surround sound (cheap) system and hook it in.
As for AH having sound probs.....nonsense!!

Electrostatics?    Whatcha have Quad's?  Martin Logan's?   Not many companies out there make em good anymore.   

For serious listening I have KEF's through a brand new Yamaha 6.2 receiver.

Well got my Altec Lansing's yesterday, they sound great, better then the Harmon/Kardon's I had, but the biggest reason I bought new speakers was the volume know was all jacked up on them, so it's really nice not having to mess with that anymore, just wish they had an on/off switch on the small speakers instead of it being on the back of the sub.

My Logitecs just shut off with the laptop (USB powered), my Altecs have an on/off switch on one of the satellites and the Klipches I just leave on all the time (same deal... power switch on the back of the sub)... no biggie.

i love AL's speakers, i had a one with a 6" subwoofer with dual voice coil and it would hit loader then the 10's i had on my stereo at the time.

i got 2 sets from a 2nd hand store for 4.99 each and they work nice with my 5.1 setup
