a6m5b fuel burn order
« on: April 18, 2009, 12:26:20 AM »
anyone have any ideas on best order to burn fuel tanks in zero. Also which seems best for drop tanks in zero, centerline or the two wing tanks.

Is fuel burn order pretty much same for all planes or does it vary very much?

Thanks in advance.

Well it does vary from plane to plane, however the A6m really doesn't gain much in my opinion from advanced fuel management.  190's, P51's and some others have center of gravity issues with a full load of fuel. Giving you a big advantage to burning off the the Aux tank below 25% first.

As to the DT I've not seen any advantage to taking the wing tanks vs the center drop.
Mostly it would depend on what else I want to load. A6m has such great range that mostly you can load 50% or 75% fuel, no drop and go fly.

Fuel burn?

Well...you only last a maximum of 30 seconds when this happens. My favorite kind of them all  :)

IMO most any of the single-engine aircraft with wing tanks will benefit even in small degrees by burning the wing in the direction of torque roll down lower than the other wing.

Ron White says you can't fix stupid. I beg to differ. Stupid will usually sort itself out, it's just a matter of making sure you're not close enough to become collateral damage.

Not that I am aware of.  Certainly not on fighters.
