As we may be getting a Griffon Spit, how does this one look?

This is Spitfire F.MkXIV Serial#SM832.  It is wearing the paint job that Sqd Ldr 'Ginger' Lacey's 'YB-A' (RN135) of No 17 Squadron wore in mid-1945 while he was serving in the far east.  Not really visible in these photo's are the 3 rows under the left side of the cockpit.  The top two rows have 10 black and white crosses (German emblems) and the 3rd row has seven black and white crosses and 1 red circle (Japanese emblem).

This would be my pick for a Spitfire F.MkXIV paint scheme.

Karnak,

Political differences aside. I agree with you. That is one sweet looking ride. I can't wait to try her out.

Maverick,
Politics, schmolitics.  Who cares about that stuff.

We all have a common interest here (even if some of us are loons and like German stuff  ).  I eagerly await the Spitfire F.MkXIV (and Fw190D-9 {w/MW50 hopefully}).  Spit 14 is a really sleek, pretty thing.

Personally I think that the Griffon engine did very little to Spitfire's look. Merlin engined spits were way more beautiful IMHO

I wouldn't mind seeing RCAF colors on the Mk. XIV.

...which leaves the way open for a RAAF LF.Mk VIII in W.Cdr Clive Caldwell's markings - with German, Italian and Japanese kills marked under the cockpit.
