They can carry 3 troops, had an MG42, not a 34, and were actually faster in water than any vehicles but the pt boat. and yes it would be fun

It's called the Fahrvergnugen:D

Sounds like the german version of the Oscar Mayer weinermobile

I really doubt that they were ever used for beach landings, but I could be wrong.  I always thought they were just like a Kunelwagon that didn't care if there was a bridge over the river, not a landing craft that could handle big ocean swells.

I remember that thing parked out in front of the Oscar Meyer factory in the '70s. Passed it when we went to see the Phillies play.
"Then out spake brave Horatius, the Captain of the gate:
To every man upon this earth, death cometh soon or late.
And how can man die better, than facing fearful odds.
For the ashes of his fathers and the temples of his Gods."

PFactor, you are right, they weren't used off carriers, THE GERMANS HAD NO CARRIERS IN THEIR NAVY. They could be used on land and the DUWK's could be used off the carriers, if they were faster in water then the LVT's or at least just as fast then it won't matter if they had less armor because their turret had a .50 similar to a tanks in the fact that it could rotate 360 degrees and so could defend against planes better. And the thret from shore wouldn't matter that much as the higher caliber guns could destroy an LVT to, so it would be like 1.5 times the amount of fire you have to worry about. And DUWK's could be used from land too, like an amphibious duce and a half. :salute

Well to be honest, as far as I know, Aircraft Carriers have never been used to launch landing craft in ANY navy.

What ever, I think you know what we are talking about, and the Italians did once I think, either that or it is some other country that is never in the news anymore. But serious, if you think it is a bad idea all around then say so, don't get stuck on this one thing that I hadn't thought of. So tell me what you think about the DUWK's and the schwimwagen being used on land and launched from a task group. Ok you know what, if we are talking about launching gv's to hit a beach just say they were launched from a tg.

Personally, I would love to have DUKWs in the game.  I'm all for it!  The Schwimminwagons are cool too.  I'd love to see them in the game also, but like Jeeps, I expect they would get minimal use.

I agree, the jeep is under used, it is fast light, but is under armored. I think it would be used more if it were able to be used with a formation of 3 or 4 preferably 4 so you can take a base even if 2 get killed or injured and you won't need two drivers, it can only carry 3 troops, I think that is the main reason.
