LGM Films presents...Dawn of Battle (propaganda film)
« on: May 05, 2009, 01:16:36 AM »
One would definitely call this a propaganda film, but you wouldn't know for sure, which side this was made for.  Confused, well you haven't seen anything yet!

The soundtrack is from actual German troops singing an ode to a great man, Rommel.

I hope you enjoy this creative propaganda film and notice the subtle, yet ironic things that make it funny.  I also hope that any German speakers forgive some of my translation as my German is a bit rusty.   ;)

The combat footage was taken from battles fought in Tunisia during frames 1, 2 and 3 in the AH scenario, Dawn of Battle.  It was a great scenario as it had many players giving it all they had, with their thinking, planning, practicing, teamwork and most of all, laughter.  This film is but a window of the the fun we had and brings good memories with each clip.  There is a story behind each clip that would take a long time to go into, but those pilots, axis or allied, know when they show up and the great memories they had during that piece of action.  Even characters from the "Private SNAFU" series are included in this film, as those films were of inspiration to us allies and to this film.

Thank you Jedi, SRD, bmathis and Denholm for the comments and for watching!

Hey, I put in a few mistranslations on purpose to help match or "not match" the video clips.

I wonder if anyone can find them...

Oh yeah, I noticed it quite a few times, yet took note of your comment mentioning that you did not intend to offend any German speaking individuals. ;)

Save the file to your computer first.

Bark0, download this software package:

Windows Essentials Codec Pack.

Afterward Windows Media Player, Winamp, or RealPlayer should be able to play that video (if you downloaded it instead of, "open"ing it).

Everything should work fine for 99.9% of Windows Users. :)

I spent time on this topic a few years back to ensure little complications occur and no 3rd party installations required.  Hence why I do not use DivX or other codecs that are good and bad in their own way.  I use standard tools, codecs and compressions that are found in XP and Vista, either by default or through Service Packs.

Once you do figure it out, please let us know.  Thanks and good luck Bark0.
