My god would you please quit with the arena crap Hitech!

Just an idea. How about both arenas run the same maps, both run a day time cap of 350. The caps start to really go in effect and float after those numbers. This way theres no running to one over the other due to map, the only tie is the scores, and the caps let people into the arenas all day until they start to hit 350. At 350 they start to do what they do now. This will keep one arena from having 180 in it and the other from having 40 in it. Above all else let's at least try some of these ideas that are on the boards. It's at least better than arguing here and still getting nowhere.  It's the same circle over and over.  1 Tour try something different with the numbers to even out the caps over a day.

Floating Caps...... BIGGEST PROBLEM IN GAME...  Well shucks, I guess the game itself is just fine with all these great people having nothing better to moan about!!!                Yet on tTuesday, the only complaint is too many people, too many dropped packets, frame loss & warping.    

So basically you complainers want it both ways?  Fix the Cap's but keep "them" out so we don't have playing problems.........   Riiiiiiiiiiight.  Sounds like a SPEIR way of thinking.

This analogy doesn't really make sense. So we should keep what works for you, but doesn't work for me?
The solution should be something that works for both of us. That has yet to be found, and this discussion is precisely the purpose it is meant to serve.
I'd be stumped if a solution that doesn't limit consumer choice doesn't exist, further undermining my faith in the current financial system.

Your missing the point. They could have picked the arena at a point when the cap was still OK, and had since been capped.
They are floating caps, which is exactly what the problem is.

2- It's the least worst known alternative.  What better alternative or what new paradigm do you suggest?

It is not in anyway safe, in fact it is completely incorrect, TT is the lowest numbered night of the week.
Unfortunately, the last few months of our fiscal year has had me working lots of swings and mids.
I stand corrected in that the last few times the numbers were in the 400-450 range, although please confirm there was a night
a while back that had 600 or so.



My only participation in this discussion was to get factual information which provides everyone with current limits on the game. That is not to say that, after coming this far, you won't be able to take it further. But this kind of info in a sticky might go a long way towards many, many people asking the same questions over and over.

I once again call BS, if this was really your purpose, you would have simply searched for things Pyro and I have said in the past and had all the facts and reasons you need.

I did. Multiple times.. A search for hitech and/or pyro arena caps brought up his thread.  Both you and Pyro have 40 pages in the search category. You have me there I did not take the time to go back through all 80 pages since I wasn't going to spend the time looking at every unrelated topic

I too hardly ever have a problem getting into Orange.  I know there is a ratio for Orange to Blue, so I just wait.  Its kind of like the line at a fast food restaurant.

Yes there is a small time where I have getting into Orange, and that usually around 1pm EST.  So if I know I want to play in Orange at 1:50pm EST, I log on at 12:45pm and press the little window button.

I do recall many time as where there were 6 or 7 BoPs in one capped arena, and 4 or 5 in the uncapped arena, and they switched.

For the most part, I like to fly in the arena that has the least bish, I like not having to fight my own chess piece for a bad guy. 

IMHO, I think this is a great game, with a lot of great people. Excellent customer support, I mean Skuzzy missed his domino playing to rebuild servers the other day. All I can say is bring on more planes, hide strat targets in big cities, and update some of the mid and early plane.  Keep up the good work HTC, it's appreciated by many.[/b]

I have proposed this before ...

Once an arena hits the cap, allow people to log into the capped arena but they can only log into the 2 lowest countries.

So, when Orange gets "capped" ... what country has the highest number of players ?

Example when "capped" :

Rooks have 150
Bishops have 100 (50 people can log in and choose this country)
Knights have 85 (65 people can log in and choose this country)

Allow people to log into the arena only as a Bish or a Knight until that countries population reaches 150. If during this "capped" time frame, the Blue arena population grows to critical mass causing the Orange "Cap" number to change ... then anyone can log into any country. Conversley, during this "capped" time frame, if Blue does not reach critical mass to change the Orange MAX CAP, then Orange will be locked out with a maximum of 450 people,

This would allow some disgruntled people/squaddies to log in and have a happy face only if they can stand the fact that they have to log in as a Bishop or a Knight ... if your a "died in the wool" Rook or your squaddies are flying as Rooks ... you are SOL until the Blue arena population reaches critical mass causing the Orange cap to be increased.

Personally being the evil nasty frog I am I would not have implemented the arena split like that.

I would have kept one single arena for low number time splitting into 2 arena and distributing player as equally as possible when a certain number is reached (like 500).
Don't say it will prevent a reset as it rarely happen since the split.


Another way would be to send the player to one or the other arena without giving him the possibility to choice and making a system of invitation to jump to the other arena (example if 5 friends vote for you go change arena).
