There are some valid poitns for 720p but if she intends on gaming on it then stick with the 1080p.
Esp if it's going to be 32" or over.
Don't read the hype, look with your eyes at various stores if you have the time.
An overall great pick is the vizio from costco. 2 year labor/parts warranty and 90 day return policy...cant be beat.
The picture quality is good and if not a main living room tv will be the best bang for the buck.
Personally anything less than 42" is a lcd for me... 42-50" is plasma still..., until someone can show me they are willing to put forth the effort to create a reliable and range performing tv at the 40 and up range with lcds..
I'm so glad I waited and didn't buy a thing. I don't plan on buying either for another year or so. I would have been disappoitned with anything in the living room sized tvs. Would be nice to see my football games in hd this season but I might get something smaller for the bedroom for that temporarily until next fall (2010) when the UBER great tvs are released!
