Very cool. :) This is almost identical to the system I am building myself. :) Started putting it together this weekend, but could not get it recognize the SATA drive in XP. What a pain that has turned out to be. The new drive did not come with a floppy with drivers had to make one off the CD and it still would not recognize it.

You do not need drivers for the SATA drive as long as you are running them in IDE mode.  If you are trying to run them in RAID mode, then you will need drivers on the floppy.

Thanks Skuzzy. Wish it was that simple. Was not trying to run it in RAID mode. I trying to install it in the IDE, then 'native' mode. Would not work. Checked and double checked all the various BIOS settings. Kept crashing.

Long story and I don't want to take this thread off topic. I will play with it some more tonight and then post in this forum if I can't figure it out.

If your XP disk is older than SP2 it lacks native SATA support and you're out of luck - the only way to install pre-SP2 XP is by installing SATA-drivers through floppy.

Hmmm.  I have installed on SATA using pre-SP2 XP, but pre-SP2 also lacks the 48 bit IDE drivers, restricting the maximum drive size to less than 128GB.

I know that NVidia's SATA hardware did not have a native IDE interface for some time, but I am not aware of any Intel chipsets which lacked the IDE interface to SATA hardware.  I cannot speak for VIA.

FedEx comes thru.  FedEx has accepted and paid on the lost of the Skullman system.  I got FedUp with FedEx and called corporate and was placed with a Suzette Noel.  She assisted me without incident.  The claims dept even stated that they did not get my invoices showing proof of loss.  Called Suzette she had me fax it to her, two hours later tracking number for a check.

Now if UPS would only be as simple to deal with.  For those of you that have followed this... UPS totally destroyed a few systems shipped back in Dec.  As of today I am STILL jumpin thru hoops to try and get monies back for my loses.  No one at corporate will evn talk to me let alone look into this situation.  I have marched to Corp (since it is local) with attorney and new crew in tow to be told "there is no one here to assist you"  BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OO UPS

I think by now I would go to small claims. Good to hear on the Skullman's system.

Got the FedEx claim check today for Skullmans system.  FedEx states the system (BRAND NEW SYSTEM)  parts was only worth $119.67.  That's the cost of the case alone.  Another claim off to the attorney.

My Gawd! How'd they figure that?! Can you cash that check without damaging your claim?

Not doing a thing with the check.  If I cash it I accept the claim as is
