Morf... the other dogs that may bite you have nowhere near the biting force of a pit. I once saw a pit bite a 4 x 4 and with a little shaking, broke it in half.

Like Betty said it is personal choice.

Harris County has a leash law for dogs and cats. None can roam freely. Many cattlemen in the area, when checking on the cows, will let a single dog roam. If they see more than one dog they will just shoot them as they are a threat to their cattle.

Cute dog Betty, looking at him i remembered what happened to my Brother in law few years ago.
He had 1 bull terrier and 1 miniature bull terrier ( i know they are not the same race, to me they look much the same) :D
Good dogs, very actives and strong...well one evening we were at a Family party at my in laws, when the Police called Lars (brother in law).
The Officer told him someone had broken in the house, before he could continue, Lars said he would be home later to check the house.
At that point the Officer said ..well we have a problem here, the thief is still in the house, actually he called us, from your bathroom, he is wounded, and scared and we too, we can hear some quiet angry dogs in the house. Could u please come and help us get some help to the thief? Lars just laughed and said ..of course. :rofl
We still tell this story to the younger in the Family. :lol

I still feel kind of sorry for that poor B.....d, going in that house with those 2 dogs. Knowing those 2 dogs, i think they letted him come in just to have fun.

What a cute puppy!  :)

We own a Pitbull/Labrador Retriever mix that we saved from destruction because the previous owners didn't want her. We got her at 3 months of age and what a beautiful and intelligent puppy she was, and still is! She is six years old now, in good health, and is known by every adult and child in the neighborhood by her name, and they visit her often. We have never chained her and she resides behind the chain link fence that encompasses our yard. She has the freedom to roam the yard at will and announces the presence of the Utility Workers who enter the yard. These Utility Workers have all become a part of her family and she greets them with affection and enthusiasm.

Outside of the yard she is always leashed; unless we go to the local dog park, which we do often. There, she inter-acts with other dogs and humans very well and has fun doing so! She is intelligent and learned quickly how to behave to verbal and non-verbal commands whilst leashed, or unleashed, regardless of the surrounding stimuli. Most people remark about her striking beauty and gentle disposition and are surprised when we tell them she is Pitbull and Lab.

We have given and continue to give Coco large amounts of affection and discipline. The discipline is firm, but not abusive, and is much more mental, than physical (when I say physical, I don't mean hitting the dog; I mean tugs on the leash). Coco understands that she is the "Beta Female" within the Family, that my sister is the "Alpha Female", and that I am the "Alpha Male" within the Family. She knows "Her" place within the Family and accepts it (all dogs are pack animals and must learn their "hierarchy" within the pack). We give Coco much love and affection and she returns it in kind!

Betty, my Sister and I wish you and your Family many happy years with Stuka!

I named my cat Typhie, though she went into the Bish horde flying Feralcats, and never came back. She fought like a typhie too, hit hard the first time, then got away to position the next attack...I wore shin guards when she was a kitten.  :( Good times.

Good looking dog Betty, but please teach your puppy to not chase cats. My kitties might ruin your puppy's dashing good looks.

ty patches!! i look forward to many years with stuka. I had a samoid chow and husky mixed for 14 years, his name was "reefer" (ex boyfriend named him when i got him) anyways, reef was the coolest dog! i lost reef 2 years ago on feb 20th to that dog food recall, it was the hardest thing i had ever had to go through, it was like losing a kid. anyways, stuka is the first dog that i have had since that is offically MY dog. I chose to get him and train him as I did reefer.

rumble....i would have named him typhie had he been a girl, cuz it does sound like a girls name :)

and enker...dont worry i will make sure that stuka is social with other animals of all sizes, i have a cat out at my mom and dads house that grew up with reefer. he is my "fat cat" cuz hes fat hehe. i will not have a dog that is not social with other animals. i like to go to the beach or go camping and normally there are other dogs there. i need him to be social so that he will be able to enjoy the family outings as my kids and i do. just wouldn't feel right not having the little guy with us. he is such a cool dog right now for only bein 6 weeks old. he has a great personality already :)

Hmm i fly the Stuka a lot in the game and i know it carries the MOAB, now knowing that, it makes me wonder if your little Stuka's doggie doodie will become MOAD's as he grows?! :O

Mother Of All Doodie's MOAD :rofl

He's a cutie and looks like he might be pretty smart to. Good luck with him and keep us all updated. :aok

those are great dogs. my girlfriend is an owner of one and i can tell you he is a attention whoring baby. a feral rabbit killing machine attention whoring baby, but nonetheless he is friendly to the other small animals in the house.
