D.C. stats are inflated by 2.6 so it's still twice as likely to die in Iraq. 
2005 stats for U.S. firearms death rate via google search.

D.C. does lead the U.S. in firearms death.

BTW, seems this "pull out" email is at least four years old.

One of the arguments I found looking for info on this is "Fewer guns = fewer deaths."  But I also found that "Fewer people = fewer deaths" to be just as valid an argument.
