Can't log into MA, but can into DA...help?
« on: May 11, 2009, 06:06:02 PM »
Alright, I'm not computer edumacated, I'm just a simple guy who enjoys playing this game.

Here's the deal:
MA
Log in, everything starts loading, sometimes I can even talk to squaddies, but as map is loading, everything just kinda freezes...just about when DAR bar is about to show up.  Can't go into hangars, change fields or anything else. I CAN go into options or quit the arena.

HOWEVER

I have no problems logging into the dueling arena!

Any ideas?  Help please.

Also, please keep it simple, as previously stated, I'm stupid when it comes to computer stuff. :rock

I would first list your puters spec's

Sounds like your getting an overload - graphics likely -
First try - set the video settings to lowest available on first splash screen - do not pre-load anything in memory - then work your way up from there. Also -
Start - run - DXDiag  -- set your sound acceleration to 3/4 - you may be having a sound problem - if you have on-board sound that may be your culprit.

You would also have a better response in here if you run a DXDiag and post the text file in here- then everyone can comment a little more accurately.

As Nwbie already mentioned, this is probably video/sound related. The only way to confirm this is to see your Dxdiag output. To get that go to Start>Run. Here type in: dxdiag
Afterward press OK. Once it finishes loading press the button, "Save All Information..." Afterward save the file to some place easy to locate (such as your desktop). Afterward open the file you just saved and copy the first third (1/3) of the text from the top pasting it in a response here. That's your DxDiag output.

Now, as for sound acceleration, you would decrease that in the Dxdiag panel as well. Simply click on the, "Sound" tab and locate a slider for, "Hardware Sound Acceleration Level." Decreasing it one notch might help you out some.

You might want to update that video card driver.  NVidia had a ton of problems with thier early Vista drivers.  Also, somewhere along the way you really should install the monitor INF file/driver.

As Skuzzy mentioned, updating the video card driver might help you out. The other thing I wanted to ask is if Aces High is installed in the default location (C:\Program Files\HTC\Aces High II\)? If it is, try moving the entire Aces High II folder to a location such as C:\Games\HTC\

That might clear up some more problems.

Thank you gents...I'm still trying to figure this thing out.

I think it had something to do with the internet connection, since all seems to be working well again...humph.
