Couple of points,
JDBecks, being British, will drink any American under the table whilst merely warming up. No one does binge drinking like the Brits.
You have not been to a Cowboys or NASCAR tailgate party.

Of course, the beer/ale is weak here, as compared to anywhere in Europe. So more of it has to be consumed to get where you want to be.
Secondly, being British, he'll like his tea warm with milk. I'd guess what you guys have in mind may be rather repulsive to him.
American tea will never placate a British citizen, if the British citizen is expecting British tea. But, there are places in Texas where the Brits can get whatever they want to remind them of home. Even in Grapevine, there is the British Emporium. Nothing but British food stuffs. You can also get a proper British tea there as well.
It depends on the person. When I have traveled to Europe, I eat what they eat, and drink what they drink. It is all different, but all-in-all it is good. I even enjoyed the British tea. It's not American tea, it is just different.
