My 1st impressions
« on: April 12, 2009, 11:55:36 AM »
I flew in the Beta test and in yesterdays event..... Both times in a Spit V covering the CV's....
The 1st time (beta) our flight leader ran the entire group out of gas, only one vary savy member of the few made it home deadstick....
I took it as a lesson learned and move on to yesterdays event....

Making sure all of the pilots in my squad saved gas from takeoff to landing i told them and they did fly the Spit V at MAX Cruz RPM and Man. pressure.... when the fuel got so low as to only be able to RTB safely we went home and refueled....

After refueling we took up our CV covering positions again for another 40 min... (total time 1:40min covering CV's)
With 20 min to 11:00 on our in game clocks we were given permission to fly to the area of the fight A65 area....
This flight is over 100miles away from our home field and not even a commonly used runway for landing by the Germans who have 2 bases closer to land at....

After arriving there after 11:00 we are told there is 30min left (I'm thinking OK they know over 6 Spit V drivers and 10 P-40 drivers) (numbers are unknown to me) Have payed to play this game to at least have 1 opportunity to maybe see a guy that they might have a chance to shoot at....

With less than 20min to go and even less gas i find my 1st A/C (an Me110 with 4 C202) i am at 15,000ft  (because i had no time to climb higher do to receiving my orders to fly 100+miles faster than an ME262.

I am alone because my flight leader could not wait for everyone who was refueling because he didn't want to refuel the 2ND time and had just got gas...

Lucky for me i am a member of THE FEW and Bruv and some Spit IX's came to help.....

After my 1min of fighting we were told we had to land safely at our field in less than 10min.... Anyone flying the SpitV, P40, HurrI, Ju87, or Ju88 knows that making it more than a 50 miles in less than that is tough, so with almost full ammo and no gas i RTB'ed to a Vbase and called it a day...

If this is an indication of how things are run i will not ask to play anymore....

I went through a lot at home to get to play yesterday just to be told it was "TOUGH S**T" that the Germans were never going to attack the CV's today and that you didn't see action by my wing commander...

I would hope that this is not what you guy plan on doing and even though we are "playing against" each other i would think that the 2 CO in charge of the game should be talking to help the guy playing it have fun.....

Yesterday was a big fat waist of time for over 16 guys who had no hope of seeing a fight.

It was pretty clear the lion's share of the Luftwaffe was thrown at v104.  If you weren't operating in that area and were allied you would have a boring time.  If you were in that area you were horded main-arena style.

Jason, I posted this in another thread, but I don't mind quoting myself.

I was very frustrated with yesterdays scenario, I spent one and a half hours sight seeing while escorting three C.Vs home to Tripoli before I ended up emo-rage quitting. :frown: Not only was it a complete waste of not only my time, but the three squadrons flying East of the Mediterranean. To top it off, Kermit told me the C.Vs are not an objective for the Luftwaffe. :furious

Just for laughts I guess, the rest of the people who where still online after the C.Vs made port where told to fly another 30-40 minutes West in hopes of finding some action.

Honestly, the Tunisia scenario needs to be tweaked! If I had it my way those C.Vs should be a game breaking objective. If they make it to port then it should be game over. :aok
