P-38 Gunsite
« on: May 16, 2009, 10:57:07 PM »
Does someone out there know what the real gunsite of the P-38's actually looked like. I have tried looking on the internet but so far I haven't found out. I would appreciate any help in finding out this detail.

I think the earlier models used N-9 gun sight while the Sperry K-14 gun sight was introduced with the P-38J and used with the later models.

Edit: Just looked at our 38J and L in game and that doesn't look like a K-14. I sure others will know though.

Edit2: Check this site http://gunsight.jp/b/english/data/sight-e-aa.htm

The in game J/L models look they use a Lynn-Type 3(L-3). Our G looks like it uses a N-3B.

The K-14 is available in one of the gun sight packs, but I can't remember which one at the moment.

I would thank everyone for their responses.
I have not been online in AH2 yet, I am still practicing offline. The offline missions have been a great help in that area.
My love of the P-38 stems from my parents. They met in 1943 at the Lockheed plant, in Burbank. They were on the P-38 assembly line.

Early models used mainly the N-3 type,

and the J used the Lynn Type 3

The N-3 is available as one of the custom ones, I think Waffles. Image below is the projected image on an N-3C, used by almost every USAAF fighter.

The Lynn Type 3 was basically just two concentric circles and a small pipper AFAIK.
Treize (pronounced 'trays')- because 'Treisprezece' is too long and even harder to pronounce.
