What part of "Not riddle" is confusing.

I'm referring to Gulfstream International Academy and their training program putting these guys on the line with Gulfstream Airlines.

Not as easy as decorative welding I would think.

I've taken certified welding tests too, not for ship building but stuff that is just as critical. It is nothing compared to an advanced flight test. The amount of knowledge you are required to know, the skills you need to have, and the level of proficiency and professionalism you need to demonstrate, not even close.

Caldera,  have you looked into the Emergency Medical Services?

My squad CO, the indomitable ace pilot is an EMT. He mostly just lays around and plays AH while he is on station.  :lol

To every man upon this earth, death cometh soon or late.
And how can man die better, than facing fearful odds.
For the ashes of his fathers and the temples of his Gods."

Yes, being an EMT on a quiet station means that you're actually being paid for every minute spent playing AH :D.

That would be nice.  Does he get paid well?  We get our butts kicked almost every shift (20-30 runs in 24 hours) but we get paid fairly well, I have 5 years on now and I make close to $70K.  I'll be starting the fire academy in June, so I will get a 6% raise to be cross trained FF/PM, it could have been 9% if I was a paramedic officer (too lazy).

Again, no age limit, relatively easy work, decent pay most parts of the country, short training (2yrs or less,) and the cost of training is cheap.  Plus most private companies and fire departments run 24hr schedules or at least 12hr schedules so you have a lot of day time hours off so you can pursue flight school.

For the love of god Caldera stay away from private EMS. If Satan himself ran a business I am pretty sure it would be a private EMS company. That's not a slight on all their employees but the employers will suck the life out of you. Keep yer chin up the instigators still love ya. By the way I am at work now haven't made a single run. I won't tell you how much I make.

Yes...yes this is true.  I consider it a right of passage, my 8 years in the privates was a stepping stone.  One thing I can say about those 8 years though, I was employed.

...anyways that's about all I can do to help you with money and at least paying for flight school.

I didn't know that welding and flying a plane were so closely related. You learn so much in these forums. I passed my Paramedic certification so now I am going to see if I can get a job commanding a submarine or get a job comparing apples and oranges. I haven't decided yet.

Two things you can do here.

1) Get a job that you may not love, but will pay you enough to be able to what you love to do (like flying).

or

2) Get a job doing what you love, and it will not matter how much you get paid. It will be as if you're not working at all.  :aok

The latter is the hardest thing to do, as many of us have no clue what we really want/love to do until we are all giezers, and even then most still don't know  :)

I have my Private License and it is really worth looking into - I worked as a Line Tech for an FBO ran by a-holes, three years to get the discounts on my flight lessons  ;)

Good luck Caldera

Caldera, I don't know how old you are, but if you want any "good" job as a commercial pilot, about 12-14 years in the Air Force is a good way to start. ;)

if the military is not accepting you, how about the police?
