Exqueeze me?  A baking powder?  Shouldn't we be talking about the Ki-43 here?  Almost 6000 Ki-43's were built, more than all those others combined.

I think it would be best to leave these rare birds alone till we fill out the plane set a bit.

Buuuuuuuuuut, if we're gonna go for the really cool rare birds, I'll take a Do-335, thank you.

The first Ki-100-Ia's were actually Ki-61-II-KAI airframes, fitted with the Mitsubishi Ha-112-II radial engine because the Ha-140(inline) engine factory was destroyed by a B-29 raid.

"I see what you mean about the recycling - pretty much the same plane from the firewall aft." - funked.

The Ki-61-II-KAI had a longer rear fuselage and larger vertical stab than the Ki-61-I series, so "recycling" a Ki-100 into a Ki-61-I isn't really so simple, the 3d model would have to be mostly reworked, except for the wings.

Ki-100 - cool

I feel my island roots calling to me - Mariannas Islands, that is.  If we get a Pacific Scenario, I'd gladly fly USN, and free my Guamanian relatives from the IJA

Ra-

Who in their right mind would fly the Ki-43 in this plane set?   It's at least 40mph slower than the slowest plane, sports only 2x12.7's, and can't climb with anything.

Now, as you say, we should work back a little and pick up some earlier planes; with this I agree. But I would start with something that would be relatively competitive (such as an A6M5 or Ki61) and once that era is filled a bit more, then grab the early stuff. B26's, F4U-1C's, all the 109's... hell, everything will laugh at the Ki-43 right now.

Dolomite,

Yeah, I agree, but just think of the fun of catching a F4U-1C low and slow, locking onto his tail and picking him apart with the peashooters, giving him the slow death he deserves.

You'd have to attach a wagon to the plane for it to carry enough ammo to bring down a Corsair.

Spinny:  Not if they model the guns right.

Juzz:  I was assuming they would do a Ki-61-II.

I get the impression only a small number of Ki-61-II-KAI were delivered to combat units.

Quote
By the time that production was suspended, 374 Model 2s had been built, but 30 of these were destroyed on the ground prior to delivery and 275 were built without engines.
That leaves only 69 with engines. The 275 without were converted into Ki-100-Ia's, and when these airframes ran out a further 118 Ki-100-Ib were built from "scratch".

I doubt there would be sufficient data available for HTC to model the Ki-61-II-KAI? Although it would be nice to fly the Ki-61-II-KAId - with four Ho-5 20mm cannons!

Whats the world coming to when you have to recycle airplanes. Cant we just ave the throw away Japanese planes that were used to Ki here an oscar there niki over there now we have to clean up the arena so they can recycle these throw away planes into something esle. Well Ive been here sence august and I aint pushing a broom to remake airplanes. And this download is getting way out of hand toke me 1 hole minute to get it  down off the web and you want more aiplanes now sheeesss when will these players ever be happy.

Ok more planes mean less size in download so rooks lose 4 fields this time then knights lose 4 the rooks lose instruments next knights loose them. then if thats not enough they start out 3/4 damaged.

enough of this sound great like to turn and burn some times. Read up on the ki 100 never looked at the ki44 need to I guess.

Nabe, you read my mind    I had also thought just yesterday of how nice it would be to have the J2M3 Raiden aka "Jack".

More pictures of a restored Raiden here:

Nabe, I was thinking about an A6M5b for our first Zero.  It's a little bit of an improvement.
