Classic Air Battle in MA last night!
« on: May 28, 2009, 09:23:17 AM »
ThunderEgg put together another classic WWII era mission last night.

B17s with escorts.  It was a great deal of fun and lended authenticity as a flight sim can do.

Everyone knew we were coming.  The Rooks had time to prepare and a classic WWII Battle in the skies ensued.

The B17s were at 22 - 24K and the escorts were in the 28K to 30K range.

The LW fighters came in about 30K and the fight was on!

This is the style of gameplay that flips my trigger.  The more realistic the better.

Sure beats the normal everyday game play of the MA.

I'd love to see more of this in the future!

No worries there, sir. :)

Even though my family and I are getting ready to go on vacation starting this weekend, I'll try and squeeze in some time this Friday night.

theirs nothing like a Group of people, and some scouts, who can put together a Mission to Engage a Mission

Like they did in the Old days of the Second war.  :salute

When we engaged those scouts, I was relieved/disappointed.
I was relieved because I knew I'd make it home if they just trickled in 2 or 3 at a time.
But I was disappointed because I didn't think the bombing run was going to be nearly as eventful as I had planned for.

5 minutes after the first scout found us, 20+ TA 152's came in on us at 12 'o clock high.
No more disappointment!
Got 5 kills and 5 assists before I ran out of ammo and was claimed by the Luftwaffe.

MjTalon, I flew with your squad for a bit and I know if you were our escorts, we'd have nothing to shoot at! :P

<--- Was the ring leader of those 20+ Ta152s  :devil

Brought 22 airframes after your escorts were dragged and stripped. 10 109K's for the escorts to have some fun and the 152s to bring the pain for the heavies. We were directly over the stream at 28k and split S into the heavies for some fireworks.

Great fun indeed, was a pleasure to switch the pace up in the MA.  :salute

If we were escorting, It would have been a firefight, I don't let my escorts get stripped so easily  :devil but the escorts did a good job with the numbers that were left we when engaged.

:salute All that was in the fun last night.

Talon...don't beat your chest so loudly.....I shot down 3 of those LW Clunkers, drove about 5 or 6 of them lower so they

were no threat.  And happend to return to base intact with a 109K4 and 2 Ta152s on my belt.  :aok

Shamus rtb'd also with 3 of those fighters on his belt I do believe.  ;)  That means 2 of us accounted for 25%

of the 152s of the 20 you brought in  :D

Hajo - CO of TFC: Turning Luftwaffe Aircraft into scrap since 1991.  :rofl

By the way...we at most had 10 escorts, maybe a few less.  They weren't included in mission.  Volunteers.

Was a fun encounter!  :salute
