Mouse cursor jump

Anybody else have this issue? In Vista 64 about a week ago my mouse cursor started jumping around both in and out the game. What happens is the cursor, on its own, jumps a few times to the left and I have a difficult time highlighting anything by clicking due to the jumping around.

Its done this with 3 different kinds of mice. Its not a mouse issue it has to be a software issue. Last night I upgraded my video driver so we'll see if that was it. But Im just wondering if anybody else had to deal with his. Computer is a H/P m9340f desktop. Thanks.

Thats the thing. Nortons! And using it without problems for many months. Not just that but I turn off all Nortons componants and still I get the cursor jump.

Norton + Vista is bad news, in so many ways.

Try removing Norton from the computer.  Sometimes, that is the only way to actually turn it off in Vista.

Thanks Skuzzy. Thats my next step if the graphics upgrade doesnt work.

I doubt your video card/chipset will have any effect on your mouse input.

Actually I found supporting evidence it would from other people. And so far the new graphics driver is doing the trick.

Amazing what your video card/drivers can affect.

I have a big real time video system in XP, that I love. Its the best OS ever. It was XP that brought true functionality to PCs, most of all video related. But even still Ive yet to see a PC issue that doesnt have multiple possible causes. Resloving issues is a study in "moving to the next possible cause".

Wow, that's fairly strange. Almost sounds as if the drivers are playing with the mouse-input. Glad it's working better, though.

My old MX1000 Logitech mouse went defective after I had it for a while.  The mouse pointer would drop abolutely vertically about 1" on my screen every 30-120 seconds.  It became very annoying but I actually grew to accept it for about 2 years before I replaced it.  I tried everything to fix it and it wasn't software related.  I even took the thing apart thinking some cat hair or dust was causing the issues, no dice.  I contributed it to a fault laser.

So far still good. Yesterday i went the first full day in weeks without the mouse problem. And overall the system is loving the new driver. I also ran a Vista update. But it was the NVIDIA update that did it.
