I understand what you're saying, but AH would have to come to each of our homes and install detents in our analog controllers for each bird we fly. Then again, they would also have to install some kind of device to administer G, give us wounds when our pilot is hit, and a device to kill us when we crash.

I'd imagine if this wish is enacted, even if the analog controller is at 35% the flaps would only drop to the notch nearest to that position. It isn't a big request, I'm surprised anyone would have a problem with it.
a HTC staff member stands behind you with a collection of different sized hammers to hit you with depending on the severity of the situation.
But seriously the anologue flap idea for aircraft that it applies to would be great.
No thank you Turkish, I'm sweet enough.

cessna 172 = put flaps anywhere you want..
I thought they only had 10, 20, and 30 degree settings...?

Yes but, FLAP's do not work that way.  In essence, we're asking for something for something that doesn't need an analog input.  These aircraft, their RL counterparts, and most modern aircraft DO NOT have "anywhere you want them flaps"  Flaperon's being an exception, however not even they have "free" flaps.  I can think of 1 French modern plane that does, but the name escapes me.

From what I gathered from the original request, the flaps will be placed in a position already supported based on the position the slider (analog input) is positioned at. So, on a 100% scale for plane and analog input (100% being maximum flaps and maximum input on the control) if the slider was set at 39% and the plane had an option for 35 or even 40 percent flaps, the flaps would be lowered to 35 or 40 percent flaps. The flaps wouldn't be free to go anywhere, they would be lowered to the nearest matching position.

And that will work fine mapping a HAT switch to flaps..... So we already can do it!!!   :rock

the lil indicator has "notches" listed, but the control is analogue. i remember my first flight with an instructor.. I push the flaps down switch, expecting a "notch", and he explains ya gotta hold it down for a few seconds each time.

Oh very interesting, so you have to hold it for a few seconds because it wants to move back up?

because thats how long it takes for the flaps to move, if u wanted to go from 0 to 40 degrees, it would take like 8 or 10 seconds of holding down the lever.
