AAA practice using a T-Rex 450 and a Tippmann A-5
« on: June 07, 2009, 08:37:08 PM »

Had a BBQ today complete with all the geeking out one could reasonably do in an afternoon. We had 2 local pilots from the Westport/Bridgeport area come by with all their R/C gear. I had my little R/C heli and car - the car which I jumped off a rock wall and that landed badly as one could expect.  Rudy Poussot drove in from NYC. Grilled burgers, shish kabob. Paintballed the lawn, and then later had moving target practice with the Trex 450 as the target. We duct taped my digital camera to a T-Rex 450 and videoed the house. I got stick time for the first time on a tail rotor heli (scared myself a few times) Had a gas 500 size heli doing local work smoking out the entire front lawn - great mosquito repellant btw those glow motors.

All N all, a productive weekend.

The vid seemed to show the heli absorb 3 or 4 hits... not bad.
Everyone I know, goes away, in the end.

I'm rather surprised that the heli was able to withstand the hits. I assume none were in the rotor. Tough little bugger there. I doubt my Blade Cx2 would handle it at all.
DEFINITION OF A VETERAN

LOL, I've got a blade CX-2 as well.  A Paintball hit on that little thing would be devestating...  Cool though.

Rex took about 4 direct hits and several through the main rotor disk.  With a head speed of 2700 rpm or so, it chews up those fragile balls quick.  The direct hit to the left rear yawed the nose hard though.
You can put one together for around $900, less if you already have a radio.  :rock
