I Guess The Almighty Spoke
« on: June 06, 2009, 11:12:11 PM »
Hap1 and I coordinated a strike using several flights of B17's, B24's, and a number of escorts in LWO tonight. Targets were two Knit airfields. The flight went well, the strike went as planned with our objective hangars brought down.
As my B17s were egressing and being chased by several Knit Me262's and others, we made for A28 in a shallow descent. I smoked both engines on one 262, but shortly thereafter while our home base was coming into visual, the real-life thunderstorm hanging over our house decided to do a dance on the power grid. Flash! *Blink*!! Boom!!! :furious :lol

I wondered as the storm rumbled overhead if I should've just bailed and logged. God was either saying "yes, log now", or that 262 pilot learned a new .command.
Wasn't too upset about it. More funny than anything. :)

I love my UPS for just that reason.

Well anyway thndregg, something kinda like that happened to me. I was playing AH2, and throughout the day there had been some brownouts?, blackouts? well anyway, the power would try to go out and did but not quite (lights flickered but the computer didn't turn off. Then when I was flying back from a raiding mission in an A20-G a really bad one came along; some lights went out, had to turn them back on (don't know how but it happened) and I thouht the same thing as you: should I bail and log, or keep going? Like an idiot I kept going and then 30 or so secs after I started playing again (had to turn the light next to my computer back on) the power actually went out :cry. I thouht "my god, how could I not see this coming?"

One or two times a year here in california since I've played AH I will be online in the MA and there will be a LOUD thump and rumble while my house jerks and wiggles under me. Add that to a massive bomber raid dropping bombs on my feild at the same time. Its worse when the quake goes long enough that you have to stop and think about leaving the house. I could see the collapsed Oakland Cyprus freeway structure from my kitchen window in 89. I'm glad I was not online in AW when that one hit my home. I got thrown side to side trying to walk down a hall way in my apartment.
