Well....I had fun. Me and a squadmate flew Axis because there were low numbers and no P38L.

Sortie one we flew 190A5's and got a couple passes on the B17's, inflicting non-lethal damage and receiving enough damage from the B17's to have to leave the fight.

Second sortie I flew a Bf110 and got a decent head on pass at a set of bombers and killed one. And then a guy in a P38 decided I looked juicy. My squaddie was riding in the gun slot so I let him tickle the P38 for a while and then forced an overshoot and smashed the P38 to small pieces.

Axis guys didn't communicate much although there was plenty of communication between certain squadmates which made the bombers easy to find. I don't see much point in turning the radar off if this is going to happen. Actually I don't think there is any point in turning the radar off in an arena with 20 people in it.

Lots of folks well above the 30K limit but that has been going on since the beginning of online events so no complaints there.

Was a fun mission overall,

82nd Were operational last night with 6 P-38J airframes but relinquished 2 to the B-17 pilots so we had 4 left. Everything went smooth, we were trailing a bit due to my inability to navigate  :lol so the buffs got engaged before we were near em.

A drone caught fire before we were in position to fend them off and it was all fun from that point on. Wing scored a 109 shortly after the initial combat around 19,000ft while I scored one for an assist down low. The night was fun overall and i wish more squadrons would fly these missions.

Was fun, wtg Larry.

The arena settings seemed to be porked. I couldn't get rid of darbar despite disabling every form of dar in the arena. Server crashes last week seemed to have messed things up possibly? Setup gets changed tomorrow anyway.

And why no P38L?

Because if the setup for the Allied side is the 8th AF, then it would be more appropriate to use the J.  The L really didn't see service with the 8th AF, having by the time the L came around were in full force transition to the P-51.  Coupled with the shooting down of cargo planes carrying the parts needed to convert J models with the dive flaps and boosted ailerons, sealed the fate of the P-38 with the 8th AF.  The 9th however did fly the L and with great success.

Those Spit dweebs can't do anything right!

When I was reading Caiden's book I couldn't help but laugh a bit when he mentioned that. What tough luck. Hopefully the cargo plane pilots made it out ok. Can't remember what the outcome was.
