Enough Russian stuff :)

How bout a mostly black P39D from the 35th FS, 8th FG Milne Bay, when they had the nerve to try and intercept Japanese bombers at night?  Not a very fancy paint job, but different.

Warloc, I have went in on the 19 GIAP bird and put the dark green patch on the upper left wing and a blue cover on the lower right to match the painted out fusalage US insignia.

On the 212th bird, do you think it should have red stars on the upper wing as well?

btw, thanks all.  I am working on White 100 and hope to have something by the weekend and I might hit the 39Ds for a plane or two.

Then I think it's time to help Greebo with the Hellcats.  Any VF squadrons that want a plane done for you let me know, although I think Greebo has taken care of everyone.  :aok   Otherwise I will be doing one from VF-15 (I think that was McCampbell's squadron) and VF-83.

The fuselage looks to be repainted? im looking at the multi shades of fuselage green, so im thinking it was not delivered with the Russian stars from the USA factory. So, I dunno, it depends what you think it was delivered with, and what they painted over.

Thank you for putting your time and effort for Pokryshkin's bird. Hopefully, we can also find someone to do Rechkalovs. Would be very cool to have Top Allied Aces #2 and 3 and their P-39s.

It was meant to be funny a jab at one of my former post's http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/index.php/topic,261875.0.html So much for my comedic career Krusty was the only one who got it.

And it was a "Q", or was it.....?

Actually Rechkalov flew the D2 as did most of the aces in the 16th...

Question, are the two profiles of the exact same plane? Or different?

Different Serial Numbers.  Found them google searching.  One of the results came back to this message board.

Both profiles are showing wing guns.  Most of the P-39 profiles in the Osprey books show wing guns no matter the variant too.  I figure it's a lazy artist.

If you could make out the Serial Number in the Black and White photo by Rechkalov's boot, you would know for sure.

Well, since it's his 39 with all the kill-stars on it, you could probably distinguish it as late-war. So, more than likely a 39-N or Q you think?

According to what I read, the got the "White 100" bird in late 43.  At that time its most likely an N or Q and they were removing the wing guns from the Ns and the pods from the Qs.

Its going on a Q, if HTC doesn't like that, I will redo it on a D. <shrug>
