I like the idea of artillery , as long as it doesn't come with an endless supply of ammo.  Any artillery unit would need to be resupplied. The m3 towed artillery was dropped in by glider during all the major campains including June 6th D day.  The C47 could be used to tow 2 Gliders one with the M3 and and 5 troops the second with the artillery gun and 5 troops.  The C47 towing could also contain the field supplies for the artillery.  The C47 droops the supplies and the gliders land near enough to use them.  Additional supply runs would be required either by M3 or C47.

The M1A1 Pack Howitzer was the standard howitzer for American forces in World War 2.

I though it was the 105mm howitzer that was the main artillery pice for U.S. forces in WWII.
