Missing ordinance and other stuff
« on: July 07, 2000, 10:12:00 AM »
Spitfire Mk V: Missing 250lb wing bombs. Missing 30 and 90 gallon slipper style belly droptanks.

Spitfire Mk IX: Torpedo style tank was 50 gallons I think, no way was it "300 liters". 30 and 90 gallon slipper style droptanks missing.

Fw 190: There needs to be a F-8 or something with wing pylons and all the related bombs, rockets and drop tanks.

Me 109: Couldn't it carry 4x50kg on a centreline rack?

P-38L: At least 1600lb, up to 2000lb bombs on the inner wing pylons missing.

Typhoon Ib: Missing 45 gallon wing droptanks.

P-51D: Shouldn't the wing droptanks be 66 gallons, not 75?

Other "maybes": Droptanks on the MC.202/205? Bombs and rockets on the La-5FN?

Anything else?

For c205 and c202

2 x 160Kg bombs (wings)
or
2 x 100Kg bombs (wings)
or
2 x 50Kg bombs (wings)

Ext. fuel tanks

2 x 100 Liters (wings)
or
2 x 150 Liters (wings)

Note:
Fuel tanks was used rarely they show a "large" use in the recon configuration, unknown if these fuel tanks was used in pure fighter configuration, still the fact that these 2 birds was capable to use ext. fuel tanks.

Bombs was used by both birds, the 205 was not used a lot in Jabo configuration, too many B17 over our head in 43-44

PLEASE: give us our real 12.7mm the one we have are unusefull, try to give at the 7.7mm a reason to exist. Ty!

Yups..
The P-47 used (at the time of the D-30) 150 gallon drop tanks, not 75 gallons.
It could carry more fuel in droptanks, than it could internally.

I've got a picture of a spit 5 with a 170 gallon drop tank. It is also mentioned in the spit 9,11 & 16 pilots manual so i assume it could be used for both.

Now there's something novel a spit with range

Yeah 170 gallon ferry tank. But they had to remove the guns and all other non-essential equipment, and they could barely turn the plane in flight. And it wasn't recommended to try and drop the tank either. They used them to get Spitfires to Malta.

This 170 gal tank?

I've got a better photo and it clearly shows the cannon have been removed.
