Lets see if someone gets this...

Strategic Bombing:  Roll 3 dice for each heavy bomber attacking the factory.  Add them up and thats how much "money" the defending player loses that turn.

Anyone.... anyone?

Minus the dice rolling, we did something like that in the AvA a year ago. Was called Battle of Aces. Strategic bombing was the emphasis and each week the CO would be able to 'buy' aircraft based on how much of the strats were left.

That's not really strategic bombing, that's tactical bombing. Strategic bombing is against cities and factories that affect large areas.

If bombing strats actually had a noticeable impact on the game, then maybe there WOULD be more use of strats as a target. Right now hitting them is really pretty useless.

What about:

Less than 100% destruction: Strats are slower to repair at each individual field, as it is now. How much damage has been inflicted acts as a modifier. The more damage inflicted, the slower it is to repair.

100% Destruction of fuel strat: ALL bases go to 75% fuel
100% Destruction of ammo strat: No ords heavier than 500lb bombs available at ANY field. Rockets and other special ordinance (torpedoes and maybe even gondolas) are also unavailable
100% Destruction of troop strat: Troops do not repair at bases until the troop strat is repaired first -OR- Limit the number of troops that can be taken from a base within a given time frame
100% Destruction of radar strat: Radar does not repair at bases until strat is repaired first. -OR- Instead of destroying HQ knocking out radar, have it tied to the radar strat
Ron White says you can't fix stupid. I beg to differ. Stupid will usually sort itself out, it's just a matter of making sure you're not close enough to become collateral damage.

As long as we're highjacking this thread (its was about the terrain effect on GV movement)  ;)

I agree on the current strat situation.
I've always advocated something along the lines of how we had it in Airwarrior where there was a spit factory. where if destroyed would deny the attacked sides spitfires until rebuilt.
There was a reason to attack them. And a reason to put forth the effort to defend them.
I'd like to see the same type thing here. Fighter factory, Bomber  factory. Fuel Depot could maybe somehow modeled to effect perhaps GVs in some way.

You put a spit factory here along those lines. you WILL see people up to defend it. LOL.

Now to get back on Topic.
Thinking about it. this is the only ware type game I've ever played where movent isnt effected by the use of roads over open terrain, and vise verse.
Seems to me to almost be a no brainer.

As for the bridges. Yes we have them. but other thent o look cool. In a game where on certain maps I've seen resupply convoys travel completely vertical up and down a mountain so steep a billy goat couldnt climb it. They serve no real purpose LOL
