looking for frontpage website hosting information
« on: June 17, 2009, 12:29:22 PM »
I manage a couple of websites (using the term loosly there) using frontpage.   For both websites, I have the 'pages' stored on my computer. I make the changes on the frontpage application, then upload the newly changed page, overwriting the old page.  I'm fine with that.

I'm looking to turn one of those sites over to a different volunteer.  For them, what I'd like to find is a host that allows you to log onto the ftp site (opening using frontpage), type in the changes, save & exit.  The whole business of downloading the page to your computer, making changes, saving, exiting, getting back onto the ftp with a copy & paste overwrite... it's already proven to be too big of a task for several potential volunteers who backed out as a result of the difficulty.

So, anyone aware of a host that allows you to type the changes directly on the ftp using frontpage?  I'm currently using godaddy, and they have already said they don't support that action.

I used Ipower www.iPowerWeb.com

Although any host that has frontpage extensions can do it.

I liked Ipower very much. Folks always very helpful.

hostmonster.com

One of the best C-Panel's I've seen.

Auto install of many types of forums and other PHP site software.

Great Support

If they can't figure this out, they will inevitably screw up an edit, save it over the top of the existing file, and then wonder what to do without a backup.

Bet on it.

I used to use ipower for 3-4 years.  Have since moved to Hostmonster and it was a marked improvement.  Especially in the customer service department.
