Latest twist on Iran
« on: June 26, 2009, 04:08:08 PM »
Hard-line clerics are now stating that some of those involved in protests should be executed.

Yeah, that's not going to inflame the situation any.
Ron White says you can't fix stupid. I beg to differ. Stupid will usually sort itself out, it's just a matter of making sure you're not close enough to become collateral damage.

Probably stems from the photos that were leaked out over last weekend that showed a group of Mullahs that took part in the protest marches.  Having the Mullahs march in sympathy is a significant event and one that probably frightens the Iranian government.

I heard today that Iran has lost a lot of international support due to the recent elections from Russia too...  I think the clerics might be pushing to try and clear this "mess" up quickly and get back to "buisness as usual" before they become a crater in the desert with little to none international objection.

At the risk of bringing religion into this and earning a 2 week ban...

The presence of black turbans would be more disturbing, right?  My understanding is that the black turbans are worn by those claiming direct family history to Mohammed himself.  Not sure if any other religions leaders in the crowd would be important enough for Iran's govt to care about them other than highlighting them as instigators since they do carry some weight of opinion in their communities.
Everyone I know, goes away, in the end.

That might actually end things FASTER.
