16 jet victories in 50 days !

And all in the Spring of 1945, when Luftwaffe was practically non-existant.

This post is ment as a response to naysayers from one of the earlier threads, saying Bar was only downing buffs etc.

More at:

It would be nice to have that particular 262 in AH.

Also, how about including the MK 103/MG 151 Me 262 prototype as a perk version of the 262   ?

Hristo, if we had a screen resolution of 1,000,000 x 1,000,000, and thus didn't need icons, then there would be a lot more kills in this game as people would never know what hit them - just as in RL.  But since screen resolution is limited, and icons help to rectify that somewhat, then you're going to find relatively few 'sleeping' targets.  And that thang will not be able to follow a prop fighter in a break turn.

In WB, I was attacked numerous times by 262s while in my Yak-3.  They never got me, since all I had to do was break tight.  Those low-velocity 30mm rounds would fly harmlessly beneath me, the jet would zoom very very high, then come back for another pass.  Break - miss - zoom - boom - break - miss, etc.  Nothing to worry about really.

I really doubt that 262s will be anything more than bomber busters here.

I agree - had a low run with no ammo in a Hog once. A 262 zoomed me 7 times - all I had to do was to count off the closing distance and break before he was within firing range.

They could act as attention grabbers though - while their buddies sneak up on you and kill you...

True, lynx.  It's not like you're going to run away from those wretched, swept-wing things

"With his 16 victories in Me 262, Heinz Bär is ranked as the third most successful "jet fighter ace" in W.W.II."

Huh?! Who had more kills? I thought Heinz Baer had the record for jet kills even into the 1970's?

AFAIK...

Me 262 experten(total kills in brackets):

Heinz Baer 16(220)
Franz Schall 14(137)
Hermann Buchner 12(?)
Georg-Peter Eder 12(78)
Erich Rudorffer 12(222)
Karl Schnorrer 11(?)

Also:

Rudolf Rademacher 8(126)
Johannes Steinhoff 6(176)
Wolfgang Spate 5(99)
Kurt Welter 5?(50?) NJG 11

Notice how most of them are at 100+ in total kills.
