Welp, I took the plunge and had U-verse hooked up. It sure helped to get a $150 rebate check and a free modem. To tell the truth I was giving up on TV in general. Never anything on and what was on was lame except for of course Burn Notice.
Satelite TV didn't seem to be doing it for me. Was slow to switch channels and went out every time it rained. Doesn't help to have the neighbors 200 foot tree just full of leaves in he way of the satelite.
Anyway, after a couple of weeks, I have to say I like it. When I switch channels it's almost instant. Now I haven't had a dvr before. That thing has brought back the joy to TV. I record the movies I want to see and watch them at my leisure and it is soooooooooooo easy. Just press record, Don't have to set start and stop times like in the old days of the VCR. You can record the series as well. It asks if you want to record the series.
I just found a bonus a couple of days ago. You can play some episodes of series that have already been played, video on demand, and it's free for some shows like Psyche. That was awesome! Better yet, unlike Directv the DVR is free, no 10 bucks a month for that and so far the costs are inline with satelite services. Also I seem to get a better picture. Overall, I have to say it's the DVR that makes the bigger difference for me. That is just incredible. You can also hook up your computer to the DVR and download the shows. Sah-Weeet!
As far as the internet service goes I cannot tell the difference. Nothing seemed to change except the dsl modem for the optic service. The modem is huge. ABout 4 times bigger over the old modem if you count width and heigth.
However, it stands up so it takes up less surface.
