Simple, its a Federal Aviation Regulation that seatbelts are worn during takeoff, landing and taxi.  Doesn't matter if you're in a Cesna 172 or 737.

Oh I understand there is a regulation for it.
I just dont understand why there is a regulation for it. Particularly on the larger jets

What I don't understand about flying is the need, once the plane has landed, to continue to wear seatbelt whilst we taxi at 20 mph, only for the plane to park off-stand and for all the passengers to get piled into a bus that has a driver of questionable education driving us at 40mph with nothing to hold on to????

Oh lord. Imagine the same situation, except in China. :uhoh Landing at the airport near Sanya with the busses packed and one of their cab driver rejects at the wheel...

Number 1 type of in-flight injury:  Flight Attendents as a result of negative G's incurred during turbulence--specifically sprained ankles and other bumps and bruises.

I'm sure quite a few people would be willing to risk that for a free ticket.

no seatbelt on......taxing at 25mph, and the nosewheel collapses, causing the aircraft to suddenly pitch 20 degrees nose down, as it comes to a sudden halt........you and 100+ other people either slam your faces on the seat in front of you, or some of the ones in the isles fall out of their seats into the isle........

seatbelt on.......... taxing, same thing.........nothing more than a WTF just happened.....

The waist belt on commercial airliners will not stop you from smashing your face on the seat in front of you.

I laugh on the occasions when stupid ppl start unbuckle their seatbelts and stand up before the plane is fully stopped. And the Pilot makes a instant stop at the gates. Oh the whining you can hear....

I cant say after landing, but before takeoff they want everyone to be buckled up before they even start moving because lets say they are at the hold line and next to t/o. There are 4 other jumbo jets in line and a plane is landing every 2 or 3 minutes with t/o in between. If they didn't tell everyone to buckle up earlier and are just now telling them to and if one passanger decides he doesn't want to, then the flight can not takeoff until he buckles up, and with alot of airline companies, he will have to be kicked off after a couple of minutes of not complying to the rules, which means shutting down the runway for 45 seconds so you can taxi to the next taxi way because the 4 other jets behind you cant just turn around. Its just a recipe for a big inconvinience to the entire airport over a lousy seatbelt and if a passanger acted like that at the gate then it wouldnt be a big problem to just kick him off right there, cause they are still at the gate. This is for the passangers safety because if they tookoff with someone not buckled...hello lawsuit!
It is 2 Cents or .02 Dollars...NOT .02 Cents!
