109 variant markings
« on: May 06, 2001, 02:59:00 AM »
Hello all, I was just curious as to what particular planes the 3 109 variants we have here.  I know the G6 bears the markings of Hartmann but I don't have a clue about the other ones.  Thanks.

I know the F4 is a JG2 plane ,but not the pilot.

The G2 is the plane of that finnish ace with 91 victories (Juutilanen? or something like that  )

The G6 is hartmann's

The G10 is Jg7's I think but no idea of the pilot.

The G2 is a personal mount of WO Eino Ilmari "Illu" Juutilainen from 1/LeLv 34 (1st flight of Fighter squadron 34). With this particular plane, MT-222, Juutilainen flew 84 hours 45 minutes during which time he scored 17 victories. His final score was 94 confirmed victories but the real score is well over 120 those kills weren't confirmed because most of them were scored after long chases far behind enemy lines. He is the highest scoring non-german ace. One more interesting note: He NEVER got a single hit in his plane from enemy planes' guns.
