Neat model. Does anyone know of any sits where you can buy fully assembled models painted and the works. Metal or plastic. I've seen the wood carved ones in a couple of magazines but I didn't like the lack of detail. They always looked to smooth. I would like to find some quality WWII aircraft models and my model building skills have never been much above the level of gluing my fingers together.   Mine always look like they were bombed on the production line.

Hi,

Check out www.greatmodels.com  They mostly sell plastic kits that you have to assemble yourself, but I have also seen a few diecast models. Another place to look at is, of course, Ebay. I've just did a quick search and it had auctions for Bf109, Fw190, P-47, P-51 and Spitfire. Probably other well known plane models are there too (I did search only for the planes above), but if you are looking to have a plane that is not well known or popular, the only way to go is to built it.

Rip,

If you really want to built this plane (hmm if you can even call that ugly monster a plane), here is a link for you:
 http://www.kitlink.com/DMLdragonDetail1.asp?DMLdragair_Action=Find('SKU','DR-5516')

The price is $30.50 and it's expected to be shipped in about 3-5 days. I have bought from Kitlink.com several times before and service was great.

Btw, I would not suggest using InternetHobbies.com as I heard several people complain about their service.

Cheers,

mrfish,

I'll sugest you use Kitlink.com or GreatModels.com as they have one of the best prices that I've seen on kits. But then Kitlink.com's inventory is not that large, and GreatModels.com doesn't stock all of the items that they list on their website and sometimes you might end up waiting for them to acquire the kit. On the other hand, Squadron.com has fair price (couple of dollars more expensive) on most of the kits and is also an official distributor of some the small European model companies. They say that your order will be shipped in 24 hours after they recieved it and from my experience it was the case.
I guess it's all upto how much you willing to spend and wait for the kit

Jim, goto www.aikensairplanes.com    he sells die-cast in several scales, has good prices for die-cast and check out the Armour collection.  I've collected die-cast for several years and I must say the Armour collection is very high detail.  They run an aces series so you can pick up AC done in your favorite aces marking, etc.

yeah thanks mx - i actually went to kitlink and ordered a veltro 205 and a ta-152h .....all of the pictures just about were broken links but everything else is ok

- i just royally botched a p-47 so i am gonna redeem myself on these! i dont mind the wait ...i am 1/2  way through a yak-1 (the one on skis from accurate miniatures who i understand may be going out of biz soon)and i cant seem to get anywhere because i keep deciding to  paint some detail i breezed over ...then gotta let it dry etc

- getting too impatient anymore- internet is great for modelers ....i mean i live in a pretty big city and there are hardly any places to pick up good kits here

-i saw a place when i was driving around one day and decided to check it out....after taking 20 min to park and walking 3 blocks uphill i find out the only thing the guy's got is japanese anime models and cartoons and robots and crap! whadda rip - too many concerned mothers i guess got that stuff ripped outta the regular store and the ones that do have it only carry the obvious revell/mongram stuff....p38,p51,corsair......yawn...Hong Kong i a great place to pick up models but the commute gets kinda expensive

mrfish,

You'd be surprised, but here in NYC we no more have any decent hobby shops. The only way for me to obtain kits, is either go to the crappy railroad modeling store and buy kits at a very high price or order from the Internet. I prefer to order from the 'net as it comes cheaper even with S&H.

I think it all depends on your location and local availability of such stores, but even then, I don't think this business will give you that much income because, quiet frankly, there are not that many people who built and collect models. Now havng a model shop on the Internet opens up much more possibilities due to a wider audience...

I saw an assembled Natter at Deutsches Museum in Munich and it really doesn't qualify as a plane in my book. Looks more like a manned V2 with a flat nose or something...
