If it is a private club, there isn't much anyone can do about it.

I'm not suggesting the Valley Swim Club's behavior is acceptable, it is deplorable and so revoltingly similiar to the signs over drinking fountains that said 'whites only' from the past.

That said, modern racial fighters like Rev Sharpton should be there, instead of at the Michael Jackson funeral. Then again, there is little publicity and/or money to be made away from the lime light of the funeral.

edit: on second thought, maybe they can sue the club for breech of contract.

If that is all true then that is rediculous. Even if it is a private club, to accept money for something then deny what was agreed is a breach of contract. To advertise something that is not true is also false advertisement. I hope the folks involved in this scam get what is coming to them.

Would be nice if some other outfit stepped up to the plate to see that the kids are taken care of.


This kind of crap sticks in my craw. I have no tolerance for racists of any color.

There are arguements from the other side if you continue to read on about this incident. Viable arguements.

Breach of contract is a possiblity, however if this club is smart. They will have already patched this flaw.

They were also in breach by allowing those kids in. Fools will assume it was racially motivated. The truth of the matter is that the private members paid money for a private and well heeled club and having a poolful of loud kids is not what they were sold when they purchased membership so they complained.

I think what sux the most is that the kids got screwed. The pool ought to declare a day where the kids have the pool to themselves and they are free to be kids. If notice was given ahead of time, regular members who complain are just the turds who should be ignored.  IMHO

When you first read it, it seems outrageous.

Then when you read the other side it's not so clear.

It's a shame that I've become skeptical anytime the race thing is brought up.

I wonder if those racist comments were really made or made up.

Considering the club that owns the pool removed their website and put up a disclaimer about the incident instead, I'm not so sure this racism claim by the opposition was entirely made up.

They may just not feel like dealing with the several thousand emails this story has undoubtedly brought...  But yeah, I don't really know how they're going to explain this one.
