Hybrid SLI?

i got a new motherboard that you can set up hybrid SLI on it.. but i have to run vista or better to use it? is it worth it? the onboard is a geforce 8100  and i can run a 8000 series card with it to put it in sli mode, anyone running it? had experience with it? worth running? etc etc etc..

I'm pretty sure Hybrid SLI is Vista only, as I recall I don't even believe Windows 7 supports it at this time. So if you don't mind being stuck with the worst OS in sometime it may be worth your time, but IMO it's not.

Let me get this right, You want to insert a new video card into your computer to put in SLI mode with onboard video?

I wouldn't do it.

Get a good Tri-SLI system for an i7 CPU or something. You wuld be better off using the video card straight up and without onboard video at all.

well right now i am having to rebuild my rig .. i used to have a 7750 X2 with a 4850 ATI card. i was able to get a 7750 and a biostar board for a 100.00  and the board came with onboard 8100 nvidia card.. i have a 8500 GT right now until i can get me a 4850 or better .. i was told that with vista or higher i could run it in hybrid SLI mode. for now if it better just to run it with just the 8500GT then thats okay.. if running it in SLI hybrid mode has any advantage til i can upgrade my card id like to see what it does. its really just temporary til i get my better card. hopefully soon

I don't think you would get much use out of it. After all, onboard video uses your processor to process any data sent to it. In my opinion, you would only be slowing yourself down.

If its the nvidia SLI Im thinking of, the idea behind is it saves you power by turning off your video card when not needed and running off onbaord graphics.I thought I read 9000 series and up was supported, I could be very well wrong.And yes as mentioned before in another post, your video will be somewhat slower on certain applications, gaming is 1 of them. I believe Toms Hardware has reviews on the SLI, think this is were I read about it.
