This there anybody that lives on a farm (or not) that have chickens or other birds on the place?  what kind and color.  I need some feathers for fly tying.

Typically when season first starts we hit the woodducks pretty hard in the swamps.   We get other species as well.    Mallards,teal,gadwall,wigeon and the like.   Later season we start hitting Lake Erie and we get into diving ducks.   Bluebills,Goldeneye,Redhead,Bufflehead and others.     Won't help you now or the rest of this fishing season but I'll keep you in mind when duck season starts.

From what I hear most guys really like the flank or sidepocket feathers on drake woodducks.  I guess the vermiculated feathers look nice.

wool as in dubbing?

Yes, sidepockets feather of woodducks are best.  Blue wing teal too as ideal and pin tail too.

If I think about it I would be more than happy to send you some feathers this winter as well.  Also, do dove feathers work...there will be a lot of those killed this September, too.

I can send you some goose and duck feathers this fall/winter...do turkey feathers work?
