I am recupperating from surgery atm (L5S1 disk replaced last week) and my wife rented me a bunch of movies.  One of them was this one and I was really impressed.  WTFG Austrailain film industry and to the soldiers who were involved in the Kokoda actions.

Anyone else seen it?

The Kokoda campaign is one of the finest passages in Australian military history, the real story of the 39th Militia battalion is truly amazing. What those chocos did, in possibly the worse conditions endured during any actions during WW2 is beyond belief.
The movie Kokoda (as it was called here) is an excellent snapshot of what occurred, and the sacrifices those diggers made. Its unbelievable that wounded soldiers would drag themselves off into the jungle so as not to be a burden to their mates, but the true story is littered with such accounts.

A great film worth watching

Here is a scene

The trailer ???

Why the hell haven't I found that movie before????!?!!!?!?!!

It was very interesting to carry out the flight trials at Rechlin with the Spitfire and the Hurricane. Both types are very simple to fly compared to our aircraft, and childishly easy to take-off and land. (Werner Mölders)

Awesome movie indeed, if you're interested in finding out more about the Aussie PNG story, check amazon for "A Bastard of a Place" by Peter Brune, fascinating reading.

The cannibal army of the Kokoda trail... The Japanese had it even worse, used their own personell for food..
That was the only reason they didn't capture Port Moresby via the overland route... They were exhausted..
I know the story pretty well.. The 10,000 golden stairs, Brigade hill, Wairopi, Buna Mission... At some points
the whole front was reduced to 1 Aussie soldier, shooting at 1 Japanese soldier, along a trail that sat on a
ridge with 2000ft sheer drop on either side.. Jungle soo bad that hand grenades wouldn't detonate because
some bizarre fungus would consume the nitrates in grenade fuses... The numbers of casualties was far higher
than at Guadalcanal... Truly an epic story of perserverance in the nastiest place on earth... Headhunters
with bones in their noses, collecting bounties for Japanese heads... The whole deal man... Wild, just wild...
Didn't know there was a movie... Gotta see that one!!!  Thx, I'll be looking for it!!!

No, it is a full length feature film.  I have watched it a couple of times now..almost had to in order to be able to catch all the "lingo".  If you have a hard time with thick aussie accents you might want to turn on subtitles.  lol

Brilliant film.
