CAP1 and other gearheads

I concur with CAP on the box, Snap-on makes great products but they are ridiculously over priced.  I've been all about Craftsman since the day I started working in a shop 4 years ago, it's not the greatest but you can run to Sears anytime you need something replaced.  Snap-on, Matco, etc you have to call out the truck, but they have some amazing service from what I've heard.

Up here we use Snap-on products almost exclusively, but then again we're not the ones footing the bill.  Get what you like, they all work the same.

know what else too? remember the ratcheting box wrenches we had before gearwrenches came out?


i bought a set from matco....the standard set if i recall. went to sears the following weekend, saw the exact same thing fr less than half of what i paid. i bought the craftsman metric set there, then when my matco dude came in, i looked at his. they had the EXACT same part numbers, but his were stamped matco, the others craftsman. i've oufn that to be the case with a lot of hand tools.
 air tools, i use ingersol rand for anything 1/2" drive........nothing stronger or more durable in my opinion.

 i use snap on's line wrenches almost exclusevily. they're the only ones that've never slipped on me. same with their torx sockets.

 i don't have to buy too much anymore, as i've been in this sooo long, i don't need much though.

Ingersol, yep, have the same opinion... Still have a MAC234 (Ingersol made) double hammer.. That thing still whips ass!!! Kinda heavy, compared to the newer ones... But none of the newer ones come even close in power...  Plus it has grease zerks, and oil reservoir in the grip... Gotta love that attn to detail...
The Snap/On line wrenches are def better than the MAC units, neither will slip, (although line nuts do collapse inside the wrench).. But the Snap/On units have narrower ends, which allows them to fit in places where the thicker MAC ones won't fit, (like pressure lines on steering racks, where the fittings are very close together)..
Same goes for Crows feet... Over the last decade Snap/on has been subcontracting some of their tools too..
Very dissappointing!!! But I suppose that its the "way of the world" in this day and age...

Actually, I have been out of the "Car Biz" for a long time now.. Gettin too old to bend over fenders anymore!!!
But I did very well in life thru that business.. Got me everything I ever wanted...

  to all the bruised knuckle wrench twisters out there!!!

well, i'm hoping this business buys me my cessna, my house with its own runway, and a few other things. it doesn't have to be now.......but it's the main reason i went into business on my own.
