setting up a mixture of controllers
« on: July 20, 2009, 02:17:03 AM »
I have read that multiple controllers can be used but I need some detailed setup instructions please.
I have an analog CH Throttle and Pro rudders combo connected via the sound card joystick port (windows XP home) and a saitek X45 connected via a usb port.

The throttle buttons have been configured and work when I click them in notepad.

I go to aces high and open the controllers setup dialog and attempt to configure the axes. There is only 1 drop down box at the top to select either the CH gear or the saitek. When I select the saitek then I can wiggle it and see the numbers on the axes move. select the ch product and nothing. zero is the number I see.
and nothing moves.

Can you please tell me how to set them both up. Obviously I only want the saitek for the X and Y axis and the throttle rudder combo for the Z and whatever the other one is axis.

Can do? maybe someone can post some screen grabs of how to do it?

Hoping someone can help... many thnx

Does the CH gear come with the ability to hook up to a USB port? Most likely the stick isn't getting enough power and needs to be hooked up to a POWERED* USB hub.

* = powered meaning the USB hub receives its power from its own AC adapter, not the computer.

This is the OLD Ch gear which uses the Game Port of the SoundCard.  I think your going to have to use the Software for CH to get this to work correctly for you.  A powered USB hub will not be the answer since the connection is not USB but analog.  I recommend you get with Homeboy and see what he recommends to do.

You can do it, but its a long painful process  :cry

You have have you stick/throttle programed as "key pushes" What you have to do is then go into the game and change all of the default settings.

On your throttle, say the center button is programed as a "k", now you want to use that to look up. In the game, click on keymapping, then views, scroll down to "look up". Double click it and then select the "k" key. It will ask you is you want to replace the map with the new one ....the "k", say yes and them "ok" on the map control. Hit the center button on your throttle and you should have the view up.

The painful part of this is you have to do every button this way. If you do it, write them all down because if you loose the mapping for some reason you'll have to do it all over again... twice as painful  :D

aah, it appears I left out a vital bit of info..

I have had the CH analog controller in use for donkeys years, with a CH combat stick attached to the throttle and then via the rudders to the analog audio card game port. However Ive slowly realised that the combat stick is wearing out and losing its axis config between every use. ie: its flakey and jiggles and jumps on the X and Y axis. The rudders and the throttle and all the key presses work just fine and have for aeons.

I want to unplug the ch combat stick and bin it and replace it with the X45 saitek plugged separately into a usb port. and keep the ch throttle and rudders.

but in the AH config screens it appears to only recognise EITHER the ch throttle/rudders OR the saitek. I know I can set up TWO controllers, I just dont know HOW!?

can anyone else help or has anyone done this.

I think you just need to go to EACH setting in the menu below your stick recognition and assign each axis such as pitch "sateck" roll "sateck" yaw  "ch" etc etc
