Currently we only have ack at bases, cvs, strats, and trains. (have I left anything off?)   How about adding more ack scattered throughout the landscape?  The ack within a certain radius of a base would belong to that country and attack enemy aircraft (and vehicles) within range.

The benefit would be that it would make planning NOE missions more critical and strategic. (have to take out known ack if its enroute) and might actually push the fights a little higher for when a base is captured now lots of ack changes hands.

Don't know if its possible to randomize it either. (positions would probably be static, but whether its active or not could be randomized)

Pros of having Terrain Ack:
-It would discourage vulching as players would have to Keep others on the ack and remember the spawn times, so when one comes back, they could take it out.
-It would encourage more strategy, especially on missions and NOE raids.

Cons of having terrain Ack:
-Low furballs are usually some of the best places to be on a map, as they usually offer the most enjoyment.
Terrain ack would give the defending side a advantage because of the auto ack, and would probably discourage people to start fights.
-Ack hugging would be very frequent and would encourage players to run to their side of the map.
-It's already a difficult to take a base, why make it harder?

I'm sure there are many more, but the consequences outweigh the benefits.

Ooooh  How about a rail yard as a GV base.  Taking the yard in hostile territory brings supplies to captured bases..

Ummm..... no.

The ack is bad enough as it is. I can't go within 5k of an enemy base without getting a PW...

There are manned 40mm AA gun objects available in the current terrain editor. However they have a display bug which means that although they can be destroyed, they don't appear as destroyed to players. So you could have a player trying to pump ammo into an already knocked out gun.

Assuming HTC fix this bug then in theory a map builder could add individual AA guns into a terrain. These would be linked to a field in a similar way to shore batteries and would appear as extra guns in the field's hangar screen.

I'm not sure if HTC would allow individual manned AAs for MA maps. I'd like to see it, since it would give an unexpected dimension to have AA guns sited in unusual locations. It would also be interesting for terrain builders to work out sneaky locations using terrain clutter to hide them. Near the town or between SPs and the base would be popular locations. A manned AT gun that could be placed in a terrain might be fun too...
