This case is soon to be released

.......and it should turn the Industry in a new direction.   I'm now contemplating getting it (Tempest is still on top, but not by much), when it is released.

I was perusing Bill Owen's website (One of the Top Case Modders in the World) and noticed he had a 12 minute review of this case and was floored.

I'm looking at either the PC-K60W or PC-K62.   If you click on the cases, it will take you to a detailed page.   

In short for a $95 pricepoint (PC-K60W).   You get:

- Rubber grommeted fans (3 x 140mm's and a 120mm)  2 - 140's are on top, and one in front) - Filter on the front
- Hard Drive trays with rubber grommets (4 trays)
- Bottom mount PSU (with a vent and about 1/2" clearence and a filter) with a clasp and rubber noise reducing strip.  It rests on a rubber pad as well
- Bottom mount cable managment clamp and a moveable main MB clamp
- PCI cards are held in by cast aluminum clamps
- two rubber openings for Water Cooling
- The case is a true "tool less" design.

Looks nice. I think they will have to make some extra screens to sell with the case. The way it's designed it looks as if after a while the clamps on the screens will try to snap on you. Other than that, this look great.

I hope not. I'm too much of a fan of aluminum cases to consider it, not to mention that I issued a self-imposed moratorium on any case that uses any kind of proprietary mounting hardware (i.e. trays) for drives years ago.  Nothing sucks worse than trying to find that oddball bracket so you can mount another device 3 years after you buy it ...

And I don't mind a case that screws together - I want shtuff to stay where I put it.

Designed by Lian-Li...  I'm still using a Lian-Li PC-60.  Although it's not tool-less and uses 80mm fans (I bought it before 90mm and larger fans became popular), the only 2 gripes I really have with it are the dumb mobo mounting posts (they're steel clips instead of the usual brass posts) and the front USB ports were defective from the factory and I didn't notice until long after the warranty had expired.

The latest lian-li cases are pretty good, and it looks like these new cases have most of the features I want.  What are those features?

Tool-less design especially where it comes to mounting hard drives.
Sound suppression mountings on everything that makes noise, including fans, drives, psu.
Multiple 100mm or larger fans.
Mobo tray that can be removed - bonus if it can be removed without removing vid/sound cards
HD mounting area with direct airflow
A way to suck hot cpu fan exhaust air out (usually top or back mounted exhaust fan)
It can't have a door over the front.  Any door on the front of my computer gets ripped off, either intentionally if it's easy to remove, or unintentionally when I finally bang it with my knee hard enough to rip it off the front of the case.
Extra lighting is NOT desired.  If I want bling, I'll put purple lights under my car where they belong.  But I don't.
Red LEDs are preferred over blue.  Dim green is ok, but red is best because it doesn't mess with night vision (yea I'm weird about that)
Easily removable (no screws) covers for drive or accessory faceplates.
Quiet.  Hence the big fans.  Speed controllers built into the case are a nice touch, if done right.
Good EMI design.  No windows for me, and prefer to not get those cases where every external surface is perforated.

I do prefer the psu to be at the top, the idea being that I have never had psu overheating problems and don't mind if the air going through the psu is already slightly warmed.  I don't like putting a heat-producing component on the bottom of the case especially when I don't mind if it is sitting in a slightly warmer environment.  I over-buy psu capacity and buy quiet PSUs, so psu on top is my preference to avoid ANY psu heat from rising to warm other more sensitive components.

Of all the things I wish my current case had, I wish the drive cage was built to accept anti-vibration mounting with tool-less cages I could just snap the drive into.  The one I have also slightly interferes with long vid cards (my GTX 260 barely fits) so rotating the drive chassis 90 deg would have been nice too.
