Looking at the amount of interest, It would be nice to have a built in match making system HiTech. :D

I would say 2 or 3, but I would really like to see the format changed to something like a round robin in pools then elimination rounds.  My reasoning is that a format that guarantees more then 1 bout will be more fun for the guys like me who aren't likely to ever make it past round one in the current single elimination format.

I realize that a format like I suggest would be far more complicated, which is why I think twice a year would be good...  Three times a year would be great.

Ditto...  :D  :aok

3  or 4 .........

also would like the matches extended to best 3 out of 5 instead of current best 2 out of 3........

all dueling ladders I recall had a 5 match set.......... YMMV

I think best out of 3 narrows the gap between the players' abilities.  Like Superpole in World Superbike.  Keeps the pressure on, makes the fights that much more valued by scarcity, and keeps more people stoked by thinking they coulda won instead of being beaten beyond doubt.

top 16 for each round qualify for an end of year slugfest (TOC)

only issue: once you make the top 16 your out to make room for others

If there's going to be a TOC, I think you'll have to determine participants by a "points" system.  Something like 1 point for Round #1 win, 2 points for Round #2 win, etc.

Just allowing the top 16 for each tournament invites could lead to problems with a TOC bracket (maybe there'd be 17 people, etc.)  With a points system, you can invite the top 4, 8, 16, whatever scorers to the TOC.  If there are people tied for the last slot, have a mini-competition of some sort to determine who gets the last slot.

Maybe best of 5 instead of 3 would be better for this setup?
