« on: July 23, 2009, 02:14:20 AM »
just a request...if the fso is upping from a carrier....could whoever has the carrier....turn it AFTER we take off?! Luckily we were allowed to reup  but could the carrier movement wait till we are circling?

Just a request
I don't know what effect these men will have upon the enemy, but, by God, they terrify me.

I don't think anyone actually turned the boats at frame start, but the boats reached their pre-set waypoint and turned on their own.
Ron White says you can't fix stupid. I beg to differ. Stupid will usually sort itself out, it's just a matter of making sure you're not close enough to become collateral damage.

Not the first time it has happened, and not realyl anyone's fault.

Perhaps the CO for each particular task group can be permitted to reset it's course to make sure the timing is better and the course is straight for T-0 ?

Now there's an idea.  CV commander "turn the boat into the wind" T-5 minutes to allow it to settle into a straight run for mission start.

Another thought. Have the boat cruise towards the majority of returnees so the distance is shorter for wounded pilots, and possible rearm turnabout times. Works only if no repoted attackers are in the area and of couse stabalized like VonMessa suggests.

If Allied, the orders should cover it.  :aok
