X-52 Question

I did a search, and found no results, but I think I remember something about this.

My friend is giving me his X-52 (he got some really fancy set-up with a yoke, pedals, and even like an altimeter, and speed indicator for MSX), and I had an X-52, and my only big problem was the fact that the stick had no resistance.

I don't mean like, in-game, I mean in general. It probably takes 1/4 the power to yank the X-52 back than it does for my AV8R, and I've been flying AV8R for a solid 2.5 years.

Is there any switch, or knob, or anything that would help give it more resistance?



I hope I explained it good enough, if not, I can try to elaborate more.

the only knob is on the throttle afaik...and that doesn't affect the joy stick. Maybe theres something in the software that tightens it but I doubt it. I've used mine for 4-5 years now and I just got used to it.
FYI I used a ST290Pro for a few years before getting an X52.

Search the web and find the mod that uses the bottom of a cd container to create a disk you slip in between the springs. This is the solution.  i will agree that it is easier to get used to it.

Some pill-bottle caps can also be cut to fit and provide pre-load on the spring.

Yeah, the only real way to increase the spring tension is by putting a shim between the base of the grip and the spring.  Some of the larger CD/CDC cases (the long tube like ones) have a hard foam grommet at the top of the post to keep the discs from sliding around.  Just slice out a wedge so you can squeeze it slightly smaller and slip it over the metal shaft and place it on top of the spring.  I've heard of others that actually cut out the circular portion at the top of these same cases to make a shim that's thinner than the foam piece.
