NEW GVs Suggestion
« on: September 19, 2002, 04:07:14 PM »
With the exception of Ships/Boats. Armored Fighting Vehicles are the lest developed region of HTC. Now while I understand that work is underway to model and introduce the Tiger 1. Some other multipurpose fighting vehicles would add a lot of depth to the game.

Rather than reinventing the wheel, and modeling new units from scratch, my suggestion would be to introduce a few new historical units based on the M3 Half-track:

75mm Gun Motor Carriage M3A1
Mounts a 75mm Gun M1917A4 Mount M5 with 59 rounds
2203 were built
This would be quite an asset in town/airfield bombardment.

81mm Mortar Carrier M21
Mounts an 81mm Mortar M1 with 97 rounds & 1 .50cal M2HB MG with 400 rounds
(The M4 Mortar Carrier could be substituted for this model)
This GV would add the boon of  indirect fire to GVs, so that one could shell a town from some distance for instance.

Multiple Gun Motor Carriage M15
Mounts a 37mm Gun M1A2 with 240 rounds
and Two .50cal M2HB MG M42 3400 rounds
All guns traverse 360°
600 were built
This would be a nice little item between the M16 and the Ostie.

Of course with some tweaking of armor values etc. and a new skin, the M3 could also be used as the basis for introducing a number of German Halftracks, including some of the fearsome heavy rocket launchers.

Here's an interior view of the M21 Mortar carrier to go with the exterior...

Yes I have hought about this as well, it would be easier for them to add any one of the above varients thats for shure and all would be very usefull indead, I paticulary like the M15.

I think it would be realy cool to see somthing in the 120mm to 150mm range though, maybe even a 105mm gun for HE effect. I dont mean to derail your initial Idea, I do think it a good one.

Terror: Yup, that looks like one of the variants of the M15. Some had a open deck with a gun shield. Regardless, having something with even more punch than the Ostwind that could make 45mph would be a handy item indeed!
