my frame rate has gone to hell
« on: July 28, 2009, 03:16:33 PM »
i just installed the update, but my frame rate is at about 3 or 4 at best. i never had this problem with the old version, and it was still high resolution. any suggestions?

What kind of video card?  Operating system?

Have you tried going into the Options->Graphic Details->Advanced panel and un-checking some of those options?

I'd look up and post the video settings AH is currently using,  both in the video setup screen as well as the in game menus.  Then run DXDIAG (got to start menu, run then type DXDIAG and hit enter).  From there you can export the results to a text file and cut and paste them here.  From there Skuzzy or someone should be able to make an informed suggestion.

*edit* whoops Skuzzy typed faster :)

I just figured it out, I think. Grame rates back up again. I went to options, and umm.,, graphic detail,... advanced and removed the check for "detailed terrain". I mean removed the "x" for "detailed terrain.

ok, thanks that might help

update: it did help, thanks. its back to normal. the terrain graphics is poor but oh well, everything else looks great. now i can reek the benifits of this upgrade, instead of bashing my head into the keyboard because of a low frame rate.

Windows XP
Geforce FX 5500  256MB vid card

In the tower

Ctrl I says:

Frame rate 23
VM Internal        DMsnap
VidMem 0.0M      Used 3870.1M   CNT=0

Is this right? Vid Mem 0? My hard drive is running as if the game is using a page file to move the vid info back and forth. That's obviously not right.
I've turned off all the bells and whistles. Resolution is set at 800x600, 256 textures

Any ideas?
