Screen Lock Ups
« on: July 29, 2009, 02:03:57 AM »
Ive been able to tweak my video settings, update drivers etc. and have been able to experience better graphics without a lot of frame rate loss.  However, I seem to be having a regular problem with the screen locking up.  I am almost certain it happens after an explosive death or end flight scenario.  It does not do it all the time but has happened at least 8 times in a two hour run.  Anyone else experiencing this?

Yes but mine seems to be happening when using vox. A8Tool turned me on to this site, I tried it and played for 2 hours with no lockups, but the jury is still out. Go to www.iobit.com and download Game Booster. May not fix your problem, but it made fps very stable, with no lock-ups so far.    :salute

Glad it helped. Pass it along to as many players as you can.

It has helped EVERY PERSON I directed to it. My whole squad has used it since Jan. and has helped them all with issues ranging from low frame rates, to connection and even VOX issues.

Download the program too, not just the Game booster

It's all free too BTW

Don't give up!!! Just be sure to post your DXDIAG report and your problem in Technical Support. A solution should be forthcoming.

Yes and here is the fix!!!! That's right finally got my computer to run with NO STUTTERS!!! It seems for whatever reason all of us who are having stutters have either Intel or AMD multi-cores, with graphic cards that give us great frame rates till the "hiccups" occur. What I did even after freeing up all system resources,
( I have 4 gigs of ram ), put more of the work load on my video card. By bumping up my Maximum pre-rendered frames to 4, I am able to use 75%-85% of my video's ram, versus of a setting of 3 Maximum pre-rendered frames and using only 50% of my video ram. Not sure what is in the coad that affects us multi-core users but the flow of data from the CPU to the GPU seems to be the key. I have now flown with everything on gettin 73-75 fps and NO lock-ups or stutters for over 3 hours now. Keep in mind with however much ram you have on your video card you may need to tweak the numer of frames that suits your ssytem best. But with 512 MB on my video card this setting seems to work the best for me. Wish everyone luck, and hopes this works for you.

Update: It seems my fix isn't for everyone. All I can tell you is that I did everything, and I do mean everything I read in all these posts to fix the problem. The only other thing that I did, ( don't ask me why, I was getting desperate ), was under Video Settings on the clipboard prior to logging into the game I selected Set Custom Field Of View manually to the default grayed out number, ( mine was 86 ), instead of letting the game automatically set the field of view. All I know is I have played for over 5 hours with no "lock-ups" or "stutters". I am able to run my resolution at 1280 X 1024, with max texture size at 1024. AA is set at 2X, and I have all the enhanced terrain " bells and whistles" turned on and I am getting 70-75 fps. For more info on my system spec's I list them below. Hope this helps.
