I found AH about two years ago on accident. One night I was just looking for a free flight simulator with nothing more spectacular than the one I had on the PCjr in the 80's. Instead I found the AH site and thought, hmm, I'll try it. My brother had tried to spark my interest in Warbirds in the 90's, but I was just not interested at the time.
Well, I'm hooked.
I know I have a low end comp, and today I spent a lot of time reading posts and trying to figure out ways to make what I have work. I adjusted my video card, deleted this and that, changed texture size, defraged, turned this and that off, and have several things yet to try. I am happy to say that I have made the game playable and feel lucky since I knew 10x less about my system this AM than I do now. I understand the frustration of others that have had trouble and will need a hand in changing their settings, or those that are going to have to upgrade to make the game playable enough for their taste. I will prolly have to do that as well if I want the terrain to look at least as good as the last Version.
However, I wouldn't rush out and buy crap I don't need even if I could afford it. Already I have come so far from the beta versions to here in the 1st patch. Give it a few days at least. I'm giving it longer.
I'm actually being a fanboy here and defending the change. However, I'd have preferred more planes rather than seeing my reflection in the water as I'm parachuting down after ripping my wings off. But it was gonna be done eventually anyways and I can't cry when Ive had all this fun.
But for those of you that insist on leaving without trying some of the tips in all of the posts already splattered with good info...Group hug and Good luck and...
